Billing/Insurance Information
How are we different?
If you’re reading this, you’re interested in working with us, but not quite sure about us being “out-of-network” or “direct-pay”.
Whether You Decide to Work With Us or Not, Let Us Explain Just A Few Things To Help You Make A Confident Decision
You may have said or thought these types of things:
- “I would prefer to use my insurance benefits for PT.”
- “That seems like a lot of money.”
Why is RecoverRx Physical Therapy not in-network with insurance? And did you say that can actually save me money?
In many ways, insurance companies dictate or strongly influence the treatment that patients receive at “in-network” clinics, and we refuse to allow that to be the case at RecoverRx PT
We are an out-of-network practice because the business model necessary for an in-network practice to survive rarely ever allows for the high-level care we insist on giving our patients.
What the heck does that mean? …
Due to progressively worsening reimbursement rates and pressure from insurance companies, the therapists at in-network clinics have to see at least 2 patients per hour (usually many more) and they often use technicians and assistants to provide much of the actual patient care. The care often includes modalities like heat packs and ultrasound, and the majority of a patient’s time at the clinic is spent doing exercises they could do on their own time. Furthermore, these types of clinics tend to require patients to attend 2-3 appointments per week.
We do not believe that modalities are nearly as effective as our hands-on treatment, and we also do not agree with having patients pay to perform exercises in the clinic that they can easily perform at home or at a gym. All of our patients receive one-on-one care and hands-on treatment from a Doctor of Physical Therapy in every session. With this one hour long-session, one-on-one treatment approach, the plan of care for the vast majority of our patients only involves one appointment per week.
When you consider the time savings of fewer trips to the clinic and the value of resolving your pain so much faster than average, the out-of-pocket expense at RecoverRx Physical Therapy is a huge bargain.
"I Want to Call My Insurance"
When people hear that we’re “out-of-network” they usually want to call their insurance to see what benefits they have… as they should! But we have some advice for you if you’re thinking this. If you’re going to do some investigation regarding your PT benefits, you might as well get the FULL PICTURE. People usually just ask… “Do I have any out-of-network benefits?” And if the answer is “no”, or “only after $X,XXX deductible is met”, they then immediately think, “well I guess I’ll stay in-network”… but this person still has no clue how much the “in-network route” will cost them, or what the value comparison is. So, please take advantage of the two checklists below to make sure you have all of the information you need to make the best decision for yourself. Knowledge is power, right?
What to ask your insurance agent:
- Do I have an in-network physical therapy deductible? If so, how much will I have to pay out-of-pocket before you will help cover my in-network PT costs
- What is my in-network co-pay
- Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, how much is it?
- What is the easiest way to submit a self-claim?
"I Want to Find a Place That Takes my Insurance"
This can be a totally sensible thing to think about and want to do. We just want to make sure that you fully understand the difference in cost and quality care that you’ll be receiving. Sometimes going in-network is just as expensive or more, and for a lesser experience and results. So we highly encourage you to use the checklist below when calling around to get the facts straight about your PT options!
Here at RecoverRx, sessions are 60 minutes of 1:1 time with your doctor of PT.
Here you will always have the same PT! And you’ll NEVER be treated by an aide or assistant.
Here it’s never more than once or twice per week, and sometimes we are even able to spread sessions out, but that depends on the situation
Here it averages 6-10 weeks but varies greatly depending on the specific case.
Here we specialize in athletes, active adults, runners, golfers and women/pelvic health.
Here we always guarantee that you will always know exactly what you are paying for and will never be surprised with a bill.
